This year the pageant was combined with a charity gala event. The hosts for the evening were Lie Yun and 1st Runner-up to Miss Universe China 2011, Li Zihan. The pageant opened with the Finalists in cocktail dresses. Then came the swimwear competition with a live band covering Pharrell Williams and Daftpunk's "Lucky". After the swimwear round, a rep from Vilebrequin Swimwear, who sponsored the contestant's swimsuits presented #1 Wei Shuyi with the Best Figure Award. Then came the most glamorous round with the contestants in evening gowns created by Sherri Hill. The Top 5 were then announced with the Q&A from the judges which included: Luu Yan, Cetin Sekercioglu, Chen Anzhi and MUC 2011 Luo Zilin. In the end, #10 Jin Ye with her poise and elegance wowed the judges and was crowned the winner. Her final question was "the Miss Universe China is a tough competition with lots of hard work, what is your reason for entering the contest?". Jin's reply was "ever since I was little, my dream was to showcase the beauty of Chinese women to the world".
*Jin Ye competed at Miss Universe 2013 in Moscow, Russia and finished as a Top 15 Finalist and also won the Miss Congeniality award.
