The contestants' final rehearsal was conducted this morning.  They met the media for the first time in their swimsuits.  The contestants also voted for the Miss Friendship award.  After the votes were tallied, #17 Ashton Hong of Toronto came away with the first award handed out.  The pageant is held tonight and will be broadcasted Live on tvb.com.hk (My TV Live) at 9PM local time!

 

The contestants in their choice of dress met this year's judges for the first time. The 5 distinguished judges are:

actress and former Miss HK 2nd runner-up Myolie Wu, actor Michael Tse, professor Lam Man-Kit, miss Leung On-Kei and Kwok Law Kwai-Chun, BBS. The hosts for the pageant will be Astrid Chan and Jason Chan. There will be special performances by: William Chan, Jonathan Wong, Det Dik and Mag Lam. #19 Erica Chui of Vancouver is the daughter of actor Chui Siu-Keung and is getting a lot of attention, not just because of her father but from her pleasant demeanor and cordial personality, she has a good chance at winning Miss Friendship. #13 Wendy Yu has been dubbed "Pose Queen" as she isn't shy in front of the camera often posing for the photographers. #26 Rebecca Zhu of Hong Kong likes #25 Maggie Yu because of her beauty and fair complexion.

Pageant is underway! The 28 contstants from around the world met the Hong Kong press for the first time. This year the contestants are divided into 3 geographical regions: Asia-Pacific, Euro-America and Greater China. Awards to be handed out this year include: Winner, 1st Runner-up, 2nd Runner-up, Miss Friendship, Miss Cosmopolitan, Asia-Pacific Vitality Award, Euro-America Modern Glamour Award andGreater ChinaClassic Charm Award. Due to no pageant being held in 2011, some cities have 2 representatives. This year, Seattle, San Francisco and Tahiti are missing in the lineup. This marks a first for Seattle and Tahiti since the pageant's inception in 1988.
