Over 400 people witnessed the crowning of Melanie McAndrew as Miss Australia Chinese Brisbane. The pageant was sponsored by Queensland Asian Business Weekly, Queensland Asian Real Estate Weekly and the Lions Club of Brisbane Inc. The theme this year is "綻放 美麗" which translates to "Beauty in Bloom". The pageant lasted over 3 hours with the contestants competing in Sportswear, Swimsuits, Evening Gowns, Q&A and Talent performances.
Melanie McAndrew had prior pageant experience as she was a Finalist in the 2012 Miss Hong Kong contest which was won by Carat Cheung. Melanie is 21, stands 1.69 and will compete at the grand Final of Miss Australia Chinese. Should she win, she will once again grace the stage in Hong Kong, except this time she will be competing for the title of Miss Chinese International instead.
